The Christmas Market was brought to life in 2004 by the then owners and founders of Peachland's Gasthaus on the Lake Restaurant, Werner Fischer and Joerg Hoerath. Located outside in the restaurant's courtyard, the Christmas Market quickly became a destination in the Okanagan, a source for magical holiday memories and annual family traditions.

Gasthaus Christmas Market owner Charles Sherman started his first job working at the Gasthaus on the Lake in 2006 at the age of 14. He quickly discovered a passion in working with food and in the food service industry. Once he graduated high school Charles decided to move to Vancouver, BC to study and earn a diploma in the Baking and Pastry Arts. After completing his studies Charles ultimately left Vancouver and moved back to the Okanagan where he continued his career with the Gasthaus on the Lake.

In 2015 Charles decided to further broaden his education so he enrolled with the Okanagan School of Business - Okanagan College where he started working towards his Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Charles became involved with the Christmas Market in 2016 he solely took the market on following Werner’s passing in 2018.

The Gasthaus Christmas Market continues to grow each year and features countless handmade ornaments and unique wooden items imported from Germany and Poland.
